ffstitch626: clairesirishrose: It’s time for peers of young Emergency Service personnel to respect the actions these young people make. I’m not butch because I’m a firefighter or an EMT. I’m just willing to put my life on the line for a stranger who will never even ask for my name. This brought tears…

Suspenders got all tangled. Coat zipper got stuck. Flashlight came unhooked. Helmet was all jacked up. Freaking airpack cut on trying to get it back in the seat. You’d think it was my first day.

firesandfarming asked: I'm only 16, so obviously I'm exterior only. But I'm lucky enough to be at a station that realizes that kids like me will one day be interior firefighters, so they let us do as much as they're allowed, and train with us on more interior stuff than some stations I've seen. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that this is an awesome blog. It's sort of like an online training...

Pet peeves:
Put your gear back on your gear rack when you leave.. do not leave it on the engine or in the middle of the bay. Take a little pride in your equipment. This isn’t your mommas house pick up after yourself. And speaking of your mommas house if dirty dishes wash them don’t leave them in the sink you aren’t five years old and this isn’t a maid service.

Four days with a new officers position and red helmet and I can already feel the pressure. The pressure to do well. The pressure to make the right decisions. The pressure to step up, take the command of an incident and do it all as perfectly as I possibly can. I’ve always known that it comes with the territory but its like as soon as that helmet goes on my head the need to not make mistakes...
